The story
The saffron that fills this jar was grown in Pampore, a small town in the Kashmir valley that has been cultivating Crocus sativus for over three thousand years. At an elevation of roughly 1,600 metres, the terroir is irreplaceable — the soil, the cold dry winters, the particular angle of autumn light. Our partner farmers wake before sunrise during the two-week harvest window to pick each flower by hand while it is still closed, protecting the delicate red stigmas from sun damage.
In your kitchen
Our premium threads carry the full trifecta of high-quality saffron: a deep brick-red to crimson color, an intense honey-hay aroma driven by safranal, and a pleasantly bitter, warming flavor from picrocrocin. Bloom them in warm water or milk and watch deep amber unfurl within minutes — then add to biryani, paella, risotto, kheer, saffron milk, Persian rice, or any custard or cream-based dessert.
Documented proof
Every gram of Himalayan Saffron is tested by an independent ISO-certified laboratory before it ships. Your jar carries a Batch ID — use it to pull up your Certificate of Analysis, showing crocin color strength, safranal aroma, moisture content, and absence of pesticide residues or artificial dyes.
How to bloom saffron
Measure
Place 5–8 threads in a small bowl or ramekin.
Warm — not boil
Add 2 tablespoons of warm water (60–70°C / 140–160°F). Boiling water degrades flavor compounds.
Steep
Let steep for 10–20 minutes. The liquid will turn deep amber-gold.
Add it all
Add liquid and threads to your dish. Don't discard the steeping liquid — every drop carries color.
Tip: For maximum color, lightly crush threads between your fingers before blooming.
